"Andrea was my doula for the birth of my second child. For my first labor and delivery I had an ob-gyn and my husband acted as my "doula" and things did not go quite the way I had planned. I ended up having an episiotomy and catheter due to the fact that I was scared to get out of the hospital bed. I knew that I wanted my next birth to be different so I decided to have a doula and Andrea was the perfect match for our family.
She was a wealth of information on resources for everything from reading materials, labor positions, videos, pain management and much more. Beyond that, she allowed us to have the exact birth experience we were hoping for thanks to her encouragement and support to both myself and my husband. During labor she kept me moving which is the one thing that was really important to me. She suggested all sorts of labor positions for me to try out and in every position I was in she always found a way to massage my back which was were I was having the worst pain.
Working with Andrea was a great experience and it was a privilege to have her at my birth. With that being said I definitely plan on having her there for my next delivery and so forth. I highly recommend her services to enhance and ensure that your own experience is everything that you want it to be."
Andrea is a friend of mine, and she offered her doula services to us when my husband and I found out that we were expecting our first child. Upon further research and discussion, we decided that having a doula would give us a greater chance of achieving the natural birth that we desired, and that Andrea would be an excellent match for our family.
Andrea was excellent about answering any questions that I had during my pregnancy. It was very reassuring to have someone who knows me well and who is knowledgeable in this area to contact with any concerns. She was easy to get a hold of and quick to respond. During my pregnancy, we met together to discuss my ideal birth. I knew that I wanted to have as natural a birth as possible, but I wasn’t familiar with all of my options. Andrea explained in detail what I could expect and the pros and cons of different decisions that I would need to make.
During the early stages of labor, my husband and I were in contact with Andrea. She would offer suggestions of what to do while I was laboring (walking, squatting, pumping, to get contractions going, resting when possible, staying hydrated and nourished) and gave me advice on when to head to the hospital. She met us there, and was by my side the entire time.
Once at the hospital, Andrea was my advocate. She was excellent about explaining what the doctor or nurses were doing or saying. It was so reassuring to have someone who was more educated about the different medicine and procedures that they offered than I was, and who knew me and the type of birth that I wanted. For example, at one point during labor, I had stalled for 5 hours. My water had not yet broken, but my doctor wanted to start me on pitocin to get contractions going harder, and to help me to progress. I was ready to get my labor moving along, but I really did not want to use pitocin, and I knew I wanted to take a more natural route. Andrea reminded me of my birth plan and explained to me some of the more natural options that we had discussed at our earlier meetings through my pregnancy. These included nipple stimulation with a breast pump, breaking my waters, or just waiting it out and allowing my body to progress on its own. After hearing my options explained, I felt that I wanted to get things moving along faster, so I opted to have my waters broken. Andrea backed me up 100% in my decision when I told the nurses and doctor what I wanted. She also helped to keep me as comfortable as possible by suggesting different positions to try out, and pushing on my back during contractions."
One of my concerns about having a doula was that she would become my “birth coach” during labor and take the place of my husband in that area. Andrea was incredibly supportive, but also encouraged my husband in the best ways to help me during the labor process. While my husband comforted me and held my hand and talked to me she would push on my back, and if my husband took a turn rubbing my back she would switch roles and encourage me verbally. She was excellent at guiding us through the process without overwhelming my husband.
Now, 6 weeks postpartum, Andrea continues to offer her support to me as a mom. She can answer any questions that I have about recovery, breastfeeding, sleeping, and anything to do with my baby. She is a great support to me, and I will definitely have her with me for my subsequent pregnancies!"
I used Super Mama Doula Services for my fourth child...but my first unmedicated birth. I knew somewhat what to expect from having other kiddos...but once in labor was oh so happy to have her there. She did a great job at supporting me to keep labor progressing, and at the same time listening to my concerns and supporting my voice with the medical staff. She did an amazing job of being there for me through a very quick and hard active labor- by using different techniques such as pressure points on my back, different positions, etc. She was a calm but strong support when I needed it at the peak of my pain. She did a great job of helping me breathe through contractions, and supporting me and my spouse by being an extra hand and reassurance in the room. She also did a great job of capturing some candid photos of that most special moment. Ones that I will cherish forever. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to have someone who supports them and can be their advocate in the delivery room!
I cannot tell you how impressed I was as Andrea coached our dear daughter in love through the birth of our first grandchild. Andrea was gentle, comforting, and encouraging. She helped Amanda be the most comfortable through the different stages of child birth. I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting not just an advocate but a super-woman support team during their child birth experience.

My wife and I have used Andrea's service with two of our three children. I have to say from a husbands perspective I never really saw value in having a doula.... until we had one of course. It was unreal the difference in delivery that Andrea made even from my perspective. Seriously for our first child (no doula) I was on back duty, leg duty, shoulder rubbing and everything you can possibly imagine. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed being able to help in that way, however for the two children we had with Andrea I was able to hold my wife's hand, help her breathing and be a more mental and emotional support rather than physically supporting through massages etc. Andrea was amazing about knowing exactly how to make my wife as comfortable as possible and was truly there to make sure my wife and I had the best experience possible. No doctor or nurse has ever/ can ever replace the service Andrea provided for our two deliveries.
Andrea did an amazing job assisting my patient during her labor. She was very positive and encouraging toward the patient and patient's family.

She was a fabulous support for this mom. She has been a pleasure to work with. Moms and families in her care will be in great capable hands. "

Andrea was amazing and very supportive to Courtney and myself amid my unexpected absence during the labor and delivery. - Levi D( father)
Andrea was knowledgeable, kind, professional, and flexible. A total blessing and I fully recommend her. - Courtney D. (mother)
I had never heard of a doula or their role before this experience. Andrea was quite simply wonderful. She was knowledgeable, calm, supportive, reassuring, tireless, and fearless. I am so thankful we had Andrea. - Dawn C. (mother of my client)
Andrea was a doula for a birth that I was photographing last month. Prior to meeting her I didn’t have a plan for if I ever have a second child but by the time I left the birth I know that if I chose to have more children I would hire her.
Although I have only had one birth experience, I kept comparing my own to the one where Andrea was present. The emotional support, the informational support, and the physical support were all outstanding. But what surprised me most is how doctors and nurses talked differently to the patient really explaining her options in more detail to enable her to have the type of birth the patient wanted. Another difference I saw was, when I had my child, I held him for moments before they rushed him away for me for shots, measurements, etc. Andrea made sure to protect “the sacred hour” of the mom and the baby where they could be skin to skin, and it was truly the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
My husband has always been scared for us to have another child because I think he felt so helpless during the pain of birth, however with the tools and knowledge that she provides I know he would feel more comfortable being able to support me in another labor. My biggest regret in giving birth, is not have hired Andrea, I highly recommend her!"
